Filipino American Heritage Night will be Celebrated in the World’s Most Famous Arena During the Highly Anticipated NBA Matchup Between the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks.

New York, NY (October 30, 2022) — The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, will be filled again with cheering Filipino fans during the National Federation of Filipino American Association’s (NaFFAA) 2nd Annual Filipino American Heritage Night this coming November 2nd. The matchup is between the National Basketball Association’s two powerhouse Eastern Conference teams, the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks.

The New York area is home to more than 200,000 Filipino Americans, where 60% of them live in New York City. Phil Young, group sales for Madison Square Garden, commented, “It is very important to me because I grew up in the Philippines for ten years, and it’s just a way to bring out the Filipino American community here in the tri-state area.” Young worked closely with the NAFFAA leaders to make this Filipino American heritage night happen in MSG.

Last year, over 1400 Filipinos attended Filipino Heritage Night at the Garden, where NaFFAA and all attendees paid tribute to several Filipino American healthcare heroes. For this year’s heritage night, small businesses and community groups who empowered and assisted our Filipino American kababayans during these challenging years of the ongoing pandemic and major social issues will be recognized.

NaFFAA’s National Chair and President Brendan Flores added, “Our biggest achievement is seeing our Filipino American community coming together for this event. We are grateful to those who lend their talents, sponsors, community, and media partners. We extend our appreciation to the GMA network for their commitment to serving our Filipinos. Celebrating our Filipino heritage in the World’s Most Famous Arena means that we are moving steps forward in the right direction in educating our friends in this nation about who we are and our significant contributions to this country.”

This year’s Heritage Night event will be more fun as in-game elements include an anthem performance by TOFA. Filipino Night Guest DJ, Butch Rock, will be featured at Halftime and select timeouts during the game. He will also mix for Player Warmups pregame. The tickets for the game are available through this link.
