An annual, educational gathering to celebrate Filipino American History Month and American Archives Month. The symposium is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by the Rita M. Cacas Foundation, Inc. (RMCF) in partnership with the Embassy of the Philippines. Its purpose is to share the history and research about DC area Filipinos and their communities. The theme of the 2017 Symposium will celebrate Washington DC area Filipino dance and music culture. Light refreshments will be served.

Guided Tour of the Filipino American Community Archives (FACA)

The Rita M. Cacas Foundation, Inc. (RMCF) is hosting a guided tour of the Filipino American Community Archives at the University of Maryland, College Park. This archive documents the rich history of Filipino-Americans in the Washington D.C. metro area and the state of Maryland more broadly.
The campus library is accessible through the university shuttles that also connects to the College Park Metro station.

Come celebrate FAHM with us at Capitale DC to kick off NaFFAA’s 20th Anniversary Gala Weekend. Suggested donations of $20 (not mandatory) will be going to the The Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project, in order to raise money for the purchase of replica Congressional Gold Medals which will be presented to the surviving WWII veterans or their families. Guests must be 21 years and older.

This 5K fun run/walk will be held to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Bataan Death March and to honor the Filipino and American service members who sacrificed their lives during this tragic moment in Filipino American history.

NaFFAA will recognize the legacy and accomplishments of the organization over the past 20 years, and highlight its comprehensive vision to unite and amplify the voices of the four million Filipinos and Filipino Americans living in the United States. During the Gala, NaFFAA will recognize and award key Filipino American leaders, organizations, and corporate partners. NaFFAA will also showcase the collaboration between all generations: from students and young professionals, business leaders and elected officials, to community leaders and allies.

Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony (invitation only)

U.S. Capitol Emancipation Hall
Leaders of the U.S. House and Senate will present a Congressional Gold Medal in honor of Filipino veterans of World War II for their service and sacrifice during the war. Livestream will be available at speaker.gov/live during the event.

Come join us the evening of October 25th to celebrate our veterans and the Filipino Veterans of WWII Congressional Gold Medal Act. Filipino WWII veterans, their families, community leaders, Members of Congress, and other supporters will be on hand for this historic occasion.
