NaFFAA Celebrates with all our Kababayans as Filipino Americans Mark the Philippines’ 125th Independence Day

The National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) wishes a very Happy Philippine Independence Day to all our friends and kababayans. This holiday commemorates one of the most important events in the Philippines since it signifies the country’s freedom from the colonial rule of Spain for about three centuries.

As our Filipino community enjoys this 125th year of freedom today, remember that our ancestors from then and many more Filipino heroes from all generations have sacrificed a lot. The Philippines’ independence has not come to them for free. The challenges they overcame, the courage they showcased, and the barriers they broke have somehow paved the way for Filipinos to enjoy the freedom that we have today.  As we reflect on the road that led us to today’s freedom, we also set our sights on the work that remains to be done to achieve the brighter future our ancestors and heroes dreamed for all Filipinos.

May this Independence Day become a special occasion for all Filipino Americans when we are reminded to be the best citizens to our communities. Let us exemplify the Bayanihan Spirit, uplift all who need our help, be resilient, and work together to make the Philippines shine bright on the world map. This will be the perfect way to celebrate our Philippine Independence Day.
