NaFFAA celebrates National Voter Registration Day:
“YOUR VOTE, YOUR POWER”
September 17 is National Voter Registration Day – and the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) is calling on Filipino Americans across the nation to REGISTER TODAY, to ensure their voices are heard and their votes are cast in the 2024 elections. As of the 2020 Census, there were 4.4 million Filipino Americans (including Multiracial Americans living in the U.S. who are part Filipino), with nearly 2 million eligible voters. Our community holds the power to shape the future of this country!
Asian Americans, including Filipinos, are the fastest-growing racial group in the electorate. According to Pew Research Center, nearly 13 million Asian Americans will be eligible to vote in 2024, a significant increase of over 140% since 2000. The growing political power of Asian Americans was evident in recent election cycles, where turnout surged and made critical differences in key battleground states.
“Voting is one of the most powerful tools we have to effect change,” said Mariela Fletcher, NaFFAA National President. “Our community is strong and growing. Now is the time for Filipino Americans to unite, register, and vote. Your vote is your power, and together, we can shape the direction of our nation.”
Filipino American voters are increasingly recognized as a key voting bloc, especially in states like California, Nevada, and Florida. As the 2024 election draws closer, it is imperative that we harness our collective power to ensure representation in every level of government.
CALL TO ACTION:
NaFFAA urges all Filipino Americans to register to vote today. Whether you’re in California, Nevada, Florida, or beyond, your vote holds the power to influence the future of our community and this nation. Registering is the first step toward ensuring that our voices are heard in the 2024 elections. Visit your local registration sites or go online to make sure your name is on the roll.
Feel free to use and share this Canva Social Media Profile Template to remind your friends and family to Register to Vote as well.
We also call on our fellow kababayans to share this Civic Holiday Toolkit with the Filipino organizations, associations, and networks you are part of. Let’s unite in incorporating voter registration drives into our activities, spreading the word on social media, and reminding our friends and family through newsletters and community platforms. Many states are approaching deadlines for in-person voter registration, and you can check those deadlines here: apiavote.org/register.
Together, let’s ensure that every Filipino American’s voice is heard and every vote is counted. Let’s take the first step by registering today and encouraging others to do the same!
