The National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) mourns the loss of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan of Sacramento, California, one of six U.S. service members killed in the recent drone strike in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. CW3 Marzan made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, and his passing is a profound loss to his family, his community, and the Filipino American community at large.
Through friends, family, and community spaces on Facebook, we have learned that Robert was of Filipino descent. We honor his heritage with deep respect as we remember his life, his service, and his family’s grief.

For Filipino Americans, military service is a legacy of patriotism and sacrifice – a testament to the longstanding contributions of our community to the United States NaFFAA has consistently worked to recognize and honor Filipino American veterans, including advocating for acknowledgment through the Congressional Medal of Honor, and Robert’s loss underscores why this work is more important than ever.
We also acknowledge the loss of Sergeant 1st Class Noah Tietjens, a black belt in Filipino martial arts, whose discipline and service reflect the deep contributions Filipino Americans make to this country – in both military service and our rich culture.
NaFFAA stands with Robert’s loved ones in mourning. Pahinga ka na, kababayan — may your courage, commitment, and kindness be remembered, and may our community find strength and solidarity in this painful moment.
In honor of CW3 Robert M. Marzan and all Filipino Americans who serve.
