Celebrating Filipino American History Month 2024:
A Legacy of Resilience and Unity Across NaFFAA Regions
Washington, D.C. — October 31, 2024 — As we conclude Filipino American History Month (FAHM) 2024, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) reflects on a remarkable month of celebrations across our regional chapters, honoring the resilience, contributions, and unity of Filipino Americans nationwide. From powerful commemorations to inspiring community gatherings, this year’s FAHM was a vivid reminder of our shared history and the incredible diversity within our communities.
Honoring Frontliners and Celebrating Recognition at the White House
In a historic moment, the White House recognized Filipino American frontliners for their significant contributions. NaFFAA Trustee Janelle So-Perkins, who was present, shared, “To be acknowledged at the White House validates the sacrifices and resilience of our community, especially those who served courageously on the frontlines.” This powerful event underscores the growing recognition of Filipino Americans on a national stage, symbolizing our heritage’s pride and impact.
NaFFAA National Chair Brendan Flores reflected on this recognition, saying, “The White House honoring our community reflects the long-overdue recognition of Filipino Americans’ contributions. This milestone is a testament to our community’s dedication, and we are deeply proud.”
Celebrations Across NaFFAA Regions
Each NaFFAA region added its unique voice to the month-long celebration, highlighting the cultural richness and historical significance of Filipino American heritage:

Region XII organized an event focusing on combatting anti-Asian hate and led cultural activities, such as Parol-making, to engage and educate both Filipino and non-Filipino community members.
- In the Desert Mountain Region, the Nevada Chapter of NaFFAA organized a symposium that highlighted contemporary issues affecting the Filipino American community, offering a platform for vital conversations and shared learning.
Leadership Reflections

Each event and gathering illuminated our shared values and our determination to empower future generations. We carry a legacy of resilience that fuels our journey forward.”
National Chair Brendan Flores added, “Filipino American History Month is more than a celebration; it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to our community. This year, our gatherings across NaFFAA regions underscored the impact we can create together, and we look forward to continuing this momentum in advocacy and unity.”
Looking Forward
