Filipino Americans are Recognized as the “Most Certain” Asian Group to Vote During the Upcoming US Midterm Elections, According to the 2022 Asian American Voter Survey
Washington, D.C., — A recent Asian American voter survey conducted by NaFFAA’s partners APIA Vote, AAPIA Data, and Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) show that Filipino Americans, among all other Asian groups, are the most certain to vote during this upcoming November midterm elections. The survey also shows that Filipinos were the group that was most concerned, amongst other AAPI ethnicities, about the following issues when voting: immigration, healthcare, jobs and economy, crime rate, national security, inflation, education, environment, and racism.
Filipino Americans had the lowest voting turnout rate among all Asian Americans during the 2020 US Presidential Election, but a lot has changed in the last two years. Most Filipino Americans realized their significant role in this nation during the time of the pandemic and our country’s battle against many other issues.
“I believe that during the last two years, we are seeing the Filipinos’ great impact and significance in this country. Our united Filipino community effort helped rescue this nation during a time of great turmoil. Whether it’s our brave healthcare workers who rise to the call when front liners are needed to fight against the unseen virus or our educators who continue to inform and teach despite the struggles of remote learning, or the tireless laborers that contributed to reviving our struggling economy, or whether it’s our relentless optimism or our Bayanihan spirit of lifting others up no matter what our own situation is, we continue to lend a unique voice and talent that makes this country better and stronger.”
Brendan Flores, NaFFAA National Chair
NaFFAA pleads to all our fellow Filipino Americans to vote this Tuesday, make your voices heard, and inspire others in your community to do the same. The results of this November election will decide who controls Congress and determine the future of our current Administration’s agenda. Through NaFFAA’s FilAmVote initiative, we offer several resources that our fellow “kababayans” can use to empower you as you exercise your right to vote. Please check this link for more information.
