Yugyugan 2023 Street Parade

“Yugyugan” (to shake) – If you are attending PhilFest with your group or organization of 10 or more, why not join our annual street parade and waggle at PhilFest’s festival grounds at “Yugyugan 2023” Street Dancing Competition on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 2:00PM to 3:00 PM at the Philippine Enrichment Complex, also known as PhilFest Grounds! If your social organization is interested in joining this fun event at PhilFest 2023, please contact (813) 454-4060. You don’t have to be from Tampa to join!

Yugyugan is a scaled-down but equally impressive street dancing event similar to the colossal street festivals in various towns and cities in the Philippines as they celebrate their fiestas. These are marked by substantial production numbers in full costumes and elaborate choreography as the townsfolk parade and dance in the streets, honoring their patron saints, celebrating history and culture, thanking the gods for a bountiful harvest, and others. Popular street dancing festivals in the Philippines include the Ati-Atihan, Sinulog, Binalbal, Sandugo, Maskara, and many others.

Better yet, visit the entirety of PhilFest from Friday to Sunday, March 31 to April 2, 2023. PhilFest is now in its 27th year and continues to illuminate PCFI’s festival grounds located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626. Entrance tickets to the festival are being sold in advance at only $8.00 and $10.00 at the gate, free for children 5 and under and military veterans.
