NaFFAA’s Thanksgiving Message: Gratitude, Resilience, and Giving Back

Washington, D.C.— This Thanksgiving, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) celebrates the profound gratitude and resilience that define the Filipino American community. As we gather to reflect on our blessings, we honor the dedication of Filipino Americans—from nurses and teachers to laborers and entrepreneurs—who enrich the fabric of the United States every day through their hard work and contributions.

“This Thanksgiving is a time to cherish the bonds of family and community,” says Mariela Fletcher, NaFFAA National President. “I am especially grateful for the selflessness of Filipino Americans who inspire us daily with their compassion and commitment to service. Let us extend that same love to our kababayans in the Philippines, many of whom are rebuilding their lives after devastating storms.”

As Filipino Americans, we embody resilience—a strength passed down through generations. Ryan Namata, NaFFAA National President-Elect, reflects, “Our community has faced countless challenges throughout history, yet we always emerge stronger, united, and ready to uplift others. This Thanksgiving, as we give thanks for our blessings, let us also give back to our kababayans, reminding them they are never alone.”

In partnership with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), NaFFAA is launching Bayanihan for a Better Tomorrow, a Giving Tuesday campaign to provide immediate relief and long-term disaster preparedness to typhoon-affected communities in the Philippines. Highlighting the importance of extending help, Butch Meiley, President of PDRF, shares, “As we celebrate the abundance of living in what many consider the greatest country in the world, let us also reflect on the needs of our kababayans back home. They are showing extraordinary strength in the face of adversity, but they need our help to recover and prepare for the challenges ahead.”
