NaFFAA is alarmed by another shooting and loss of life involving ICE in Minnesota. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Alex Pretti, a registered nurse who worked at the VA for over a decade. As the Filipino American community has deep ties to the nursing profession, we honor Alex’s commitment to caring for others during his unfortunately brief life. He was described as a kindhearted soul devoted to his family, friends, and the veterans he served as an ICU nurse.
Guided by the Filipino value of kapwa — our shared humanity — we believe violence of this nature can threaten any community and therefore call for restraint and caution in these charged encounters. NaFFAA supports peaceful civic participation and calls for calm, mutual respect, and de-escalation in moments of tension, especially where fear, misunderstanding, and the use of force can lead to irreversible harm and loss of life.

Since 1997, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) has been the standard-bearer for promoting the welfare and well-being of the four million Filipinos and Filipino Americans throughout the United States. NaFFAA is the largest non-partisan, non-profit organization and national affiliation of Filipino American institutions, umbrella organizations, and individuals. Its fourteen-member regions cover the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific Islands.
