Declaration of Unity to Obtain Full Equity & Justice
for
Filipino World War 11 Veterans in the 110th U.S. Congress
That the participating delegates, composed of the leadership of the National
Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA), Grassroots Advocacy
Groups, the U.S.-based Filipino-American Community and Filipino-American
Veterans Organizations, Delegates from the Veterans Federation of the Philippines
(Manila, Philippines) as well as the Representatives of the Government of
the Republic of the Philippines through the Office of the Ambassador, Embassy
of the Philippines & the Special Presidential Representative, Office
of Veterans Affairs, to the Filipino-American World
War II Veterans National Planning Conference held at the Embassy
of the Philippines, Washington D.C. on December 6-7, 2006, issue this Declaration
of Unity --- consent to a Collective Vision and
a Shared Responsibility on a concept of a
Strengthened Institution with a commitment to compose and form the
National Coalition for Filipino-American World War II
Veterans Equity
In order to achieve the passage of the Filipino Veterans Equity Act in the
110th US Congress, based on,
The Filipino Veterans Equity Act of 2005, otherwise known as S.146, Senate
Bill filed by Senator Daniel Inouye before the US Senate in 2005; and
The Filipino Veterans Equity Act of 2006, otherwise known as H.R. 4574,
Resolution filed by Congressman Darrell Issa before the US House of Representatives
in 2005.
This Declaration adopts a unified resolution that the National
Coalition for Filipino American World War II Veterans Equity acts
to muster the majority support &vote of at least 219Members of the US
House of Representatives and at least 51 Members of the US Senate, 110th
U .S. Congress, for the purpose of the enrollment and passage of the legislative
measure, "The Filipino Veterans Equity Act"
and effecting the signature of the President of the United States of America.
This Declaration of Unity, otherwise known
as the Unified Resolution for the Filipino World War
II Veterans Equity Act, was the product of workshop discussions
by the participating Leaders and Veterans of the Filipino -American Community
and Veterans Organizations and Representatives of the Veterans Federation
of the Philippines and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines.
This declaration and resolution is acted upon and unanimously approved
for adoption.
Signed on this seventh day of December in the year of our Lord Two Thousand
and Six.
